Last year at the Aria’s I was hosting on the red carpet for Australian Idol. Dean Geyer was the hot favourite on Idol at the time and I had the fortune of interviewing him. I had previously turned up to a taping of Idol with a sign saying ‘Marry Me Dean’, and so I saw this as the perfect opportunity for him to pop the question! And he did! On camera he got down on one knee and proposed! He asked for my hand in marriage…. I retold the story to Andy & Adrian on JOY FM which they dugg out of the archives when they interviewed Dean on their show about his recent engagement to Lisa Origliasso from The Veronica’s! Two gay institutions celebrated birthdays yesterday. Kylie Minogue turned the big 4.0h and MaleBox @ Stonewall hotel turned 10. And the peeps at SameSame.com.au threw a massive party across three levels to celebrate! It was a fab night. I hosted Kylie-oke and the Kylie look-a-like comp! There was a massive birthday card that was passed around for all to sign, and a very pretty Kylie cake. The night cranked on untill the wee hours of this morning. Although I took my camera it remained in my handbag all night long and I didn’t take one picture, but you can check out the SameSame photo gallery here.

While some have criticised Kylie’s superficiality, I think her musical legacy has a lot of gems hidden deep within. Here are a few that instantly spring to mind -

Last night was the launch of the Myer 3 weeks in NY promotion. The Naked Cowboy, Patricia Field & Jennifer Hawkins were interstate at the other Myer downtown store launches, but here in Sydney we had the man himself, Carson Kressley. Firstly Carson’s suit was super, and he was an absolute delight. The night was complete with NY door bitch Dallas Della Force in a Cher inspired dress that barley covered her unmentionables! I sang a couple of number (kudos to the sound guys), and led the crowd in a few rounds of YMCA and a conga line or two!

RuPaul is back with a new reality TV show on MTV’s GLBT network Logo called RuPaul’s Drag Race! A TV drag competition where girls will battle it out over 6 one hour episodes to take the tiara. RuPaul will host and play coach to this gaggle of aspiring Super Models of The World…

RuPaul jokes, “Tell Tyra that the Queen has returned, and while you’re at it have Heidi clear the runway. I’m going to pump some ‘realness’ into reality. To be a winner on this show the contestants need to be a fashion designer, an American Idol, and a top model all rolled up into one. And they definitely have to be smarter than a fifth grader.”

Last night I did a show at a club in King Cross called The Lincoln. It was a great night and their first week of shows with the hot female dance troup – The Dirty Pretty Jewels. The place was heaving post fashion-week and the show went off. The girls perform there regularly on Friday nights and do a unique blend of burlesque. Other performers coming up include Melissa, Jade McRae and I will be back (by popular demand I am told) on Friday 23rd June… Come on down and check it out!
